Student Union of the Undergraduate Program, Sociology Department

Founded in 2004, the members of the student union of the sociology department are elected annually through direct vote.  The student union is markedly unique from similar student organizations in that it provides an alternative communal space devoid from hierarchy and discrimination.  The union serves two major roles: organization of diverse social events, and perform administrative duties (such as assignment of lockers).
The union is responsible for the organization of departmental and university-level social events and festivals.  Departmental social events include parties at the beginning and end of each semester as well as networking events for the graduate students-undergraduate students-professors to interact.  University-level events include the famous “Akaraka Festival”, “Yongojeon”, etc.  Aside from all the fun, the union also helps arrange study groups to provide academic support systems.
